Water Resources & Environmental Engineering I

Design of some hydraulic structure, dam spillways etc. design of drainage works.  Introduction to public Health Engineering.  The sanitary engineers role, characteristics of water and wastewater (physical, chemical and biological characteristics), basic methods of analysis, basic microbiology and Ecology, water related disease.  Water supply – water sources, characteristics of water from different sources, estimates of population and water consumption, intake works, distribution system analysis, waste water treatment.

 

Industrial wastes including toxic and nuclear characteristics of industrial wastes of different origin, their general methods of treatment and disposal.  Waste reuse options and alternatives.  The economics of pollution – stream standards and effluent standards.
