CVE 532

Properties & Behaviour of Concrete

Designing of concrete mixes for special conditions.  Rheology of fresh concrete: fundamental rheology, conventional rheological control test, current trends in rheology of concrete.  Elasticity, shrinkage and creep: Modulus of elasticity (static and dynamic) poisson’s ratio, Early Volume changes and swelling, mechanism of shrinkage and factors affecting shrinkage and differential shrinkage, Creep of Concrete and factors influencing creep.  Durability of concrete: Thermal properties of concrete, permeability of concrete, chemical attack of concrete, Air-entrained concrete, Autogenous healing.  Introduction to special concrete:- Light weight and High density Concretes, Classification of Lightweight concretes, Design of lightweight aggregate mixes.  High density concrete. Quality control.
