Practical Pharmacognosy (Macro/micromorphology of crude drugs)

Laboratory experiments covering the topics discussed in PCG 241. Collection of herbarium samples from ecological survey based on folkloric use or scientific data. At least fifty indigenous medicinal plants should be collected and studied. Macroscopic and microscopic examination and characterization of cellular and acellular drugs. Microscopy of plant parts (cellular), transverse section of fresh leaf (dorsi-ventral and isobilateral leaf), stem, root, modified plant parts (rhizome, bulb etc) (secretary duct, cavity and gland).
