Practical Pharmaceutical Dispensing

Practical sessions to acquaint students with the dispensing and extemporaneous compounding of common dosage forms discussed in PCT 232. Laboratory practicals to cover the following areas;  Formulation and preparation of effervescent granules, formulation and dilution of stock solutions, Alcohol/Proof spirit dilution, Calculation and preparation of isotonic solutions Preparation, dose calculation and labelling of children’s preparations. Extemporaneous formulation of capsule and tablet dosage forms and selection of gelatine capsule shell sizes, etc.
