Nursing Practicum

This clinical course is designed to expose the students to the actual use of basic nursing skills in practice under supervision. It also emphasizes person-centered nursing care using the nursing process. It deals with developing skills and competencies in bed making, lifting, positioning patients for various procedures; using aseptic techniques in usual wound dressing, universal precautions in infection control, administration of injections and oral therapeutic agents. Urine testing, taking and recording of vital signs and setting trolleys for different ward procedures. This course is taken both in the nursing laboratory and clinical area.
