PHM 492

Industrial Training (SIWES)

This is a supervised work experience progress of approximately three months duration, commencing with the long vacation (following the end of the 400 level second semester examinations) and ending on November 30, or an appropriate date stipulated by the Industrial Training Coordinator. During the programme, students are attached to pharmaceutical establishments including drug manufacturing concerns, hospital pharmacies and community pharmacies.  The objective is to expose students to pharmacy practice in an actual work – related environment. Each student keeps a record of his/her training and experience during the programme in a log book and is visited for supervisory purposes by an academic staff member from the Faculty.  In addition, a workplace-based experienced pharmacist provides day-to-day supervision.
