General Organic Chemistry II

(Pre-requisite: CHM 221)

Comparative study of the following organic compounds and their functional groups with emphasis on mechanisms of reactions. Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. Halogeno hydrocarbons. Alcohols and phenol. Aldehydes and ketones. Ethers and Amines Carboxylic acids and their derivatives. Substituted carboxylic acids amino-halogeno, and hydroxyl-nitro-nitroso-and thio-compounds. Poly-functional compounds exemplified by acetoaacetic ester and malonic acid.
