Electromagnetic Fields and Waves I

Basic Vector Analysis: Gradient, Divergence, Curl. Stokes Theorem, Gauss Theorem, Ampere Circuital Law. Faraday’s Law. Electrostatic Fields due to distribution of charge, magnetic fields in and around current carrying conductors. Time varying magnetic and electric fields. Conduction and displacement currents. Review of Time Varying Fields. Maxwell’s equations (In rectangular co-ordinates, integral form and differential form). Derivation of Maxwell’s equations. Wave equation and its solutions.
