The involvement of statistics in planning and experimental design. Design and use of a valid control group. Variable types (discrete and continuous random variables). Selection of representative samples. Sampling methods and data grouping. Measures of central tendency and measure of dispersion. Choices of graphic date presentation, probability and level of significance. Formulation of a valid hypothesis and hypothesis testing; student t-test and one-way analysis variance.
