Two-dimensional stress and strain analysis. The concept of stress at a point, principal stresses, principal strains; Hooke’s law; torsional loading; shear forces and bending moments; thick and thin-walled cylindrical pressure vessels; deflection under flexural loading, statically determinate and indeterminate structures, shear flow, strain energy, failure theories; repeated loading, impact loading.
