Integrated Renal Physiology and Body fluids

Physiologic anatomy of the kidney- The nephron. Renal blood flow and its peculiarities, Urine formation – Glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption of Tubular secretion. Control of Glomerular filtration and renal blood flow.  Concepts of auto regulation, Clearance and Transport Maximum. Counter-current Mechanism, Regulation of body fluids, ADH and osmolality, Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone system.  Acid-Base balance, Micturition, Renal disease, Diuretics. Body fluid compartments, Extracellular and Intracellular fluids, interstitial fluid and Edema. Measurement of Body fluid compartments.  Regulation of water intake and output. Pathophysiology of edema formation.
