Radiation Physics

Concept of energy, wave and quantum methods of energy transfer, duality of light, Bohr’s atom, un certainty theory, Schrödinger equation and electronic configuration; Pauli’s exclusion principle; Nuclear structure and models, and application in Radiology. Production of X-rays. Radioactivity and radioactive decay; energy decay diagrams. Half-life. Unit of activity and measurement. Electron capture, isotopes, isobars, isomers, nuclear binding energies, interaction of X-ray and gamma radiation; attenuation and inverse square law, radiation shielding, filtration and filter materials, effect of filtration; energy band theory. Luminescence and their applications, Geiger Nautical law; special Relativity.
