General Organic Chemistry I

Theory of organic chemistry: Orbital theory and hybridization. Classification of reagents: Examples of nucleophiles and electrophiles and their reactions. Inductive, conjugative, mesomeric, electromeric, polarization and hyperconjugative effects. Tautomerism. Aromaticity. Alicyclic hydrocarbons and their conformations. Introduction to stereochemistry and spectroscopic methods. Various organic reactions. Free radical, addition and elimination reactions.
