Practical Pharmacognosy II

Advanced practical sessions in phytochemical methods in drug analysis PCG 441 and practical sessions in plant secondary metabolites listed in PCG 442. Extraction methods: Marceration processes, percolation and demonstration of Soxhlet extraction. Chemical tests for glycosides, alkaloids, tannins, general and specific tests for identification. Chromatography methods in plant material analysis – Thin layer and paper analytical and preparative, Column, GC, PTLC (Demonstration only) to be applied for analysis of glycosides phenolics alkaloids.
