The thrust of this course is theory and statistical principles of research techniques in human nutrition. Planning of research and investigation methods. Data collection organization and presentation of investigation methods. Data collection organization and presentation of data in acceptable form. Techniques used in Nutrition research involving laboratory animals and man, PER, NPU, BV, NDPE etc. use of experimental diets and analytical techniques. Interpretation of results, co-relationships, levels of significance, regression analysis, standard error and deviations, sample distribution, use of percentiles and percentages in growth standard. Techniques used in nutrition research involving laboratory animals and man: balance studies, turnover, flux, stable isotope technology. Use of experimental diets, ethical consideration. Data processing: sorting data, performing quality-control checks computer computation. Oral Presentation: Choosing the subject, organizing the talk, audio visuals, dealing with questions.
