Examples include sulphuric, hydrochloric, and nitric acids; ammonia, caustic soda, soaps and detergents; petrochemicals; fertilizers; cement; pulp and paper; industrial fermentation processes and metal processing. Processes and systems in chemical technology. Sources of raw materials and requirements of energy. Engineering problems involved in the management of materials and energy. The manufacture of alcohols. Production of basic fertilizers. The chemical technology of fuels. Air pollution chemistry.
